Plan right now is to add the OEM TBC and run a fused 30a line from the battery for a constant 12 v power source. I’ll have to splice into the jumper / plug at the back of th controller. It would seem that all I need to do after that point is have the dealer enable the controller. Unfortunately all the laptops in our house are mac’s and I don’t think that forscan works on that platform.

This is a faster solution than arguing back and forth with the dealer.

Hey Steelerider, running a 12-volt (30amp fused) line and using either OEM TBC (with FORScan) or 3rd party TBC (no need for FORScan) does work. I didn't do it myself (and my dealer also refused to run a wire) because I was told, changing truck's parameters (i.e., using FORScan) and/or adding that wire would void truck's warranty. If something goes wrong, Ford could claim that it was due to that modification and not pay for any warranty repair. At the same time, when I pay so much for a truck, I expect to be able to tow a trailer. That was the reason, I bought the truck.

So
In other words, Ford will not be paying for the high level battery box, and regardless, you will need to find a power source from the battery. Great.

I didn't read that. I read that they won't do it under warranty but it doesn't say you can add an additional power source. It actually says that if you want the TBC then you have to add the new fuse box but says they won't pay for it.

I am having a problem getting the brake controller installed on a 2015 I just bought. First they were waiting for the TBC because it was backordered. Now they say they have the TBC but there is a "wiring issue." I told them the harness is in place, the TBC just needs to be plugged in and activated. Today I get this message:

I spoke with the Technician and the Parts Manager again. While the wiring is there and the wiring harness is there, there are certain models with certain options that will work with the current break controller module, and there are some models with certain options that will not. I spoke to the technician who was attempting the install of your break controller and your truck has a different configuration than will work with the current part. We are continually watching our part supplier and seeing if they have a new part for this vehicle that will be able to work. As soon as I am able to confirm this fix, you will be among the first I call. I'm sorry for this taking a little while, I was unaware (as were the parts and service department) of the differences with the 2018 trucks.

So now they can't find a TBC that works on a 2015-2017? I see they are available on eBay.

This thread is about the 2018 model F150 and the issues around the TBC. You say you have a 2105 so none of the issues in this thread affect your truck BUT the message you post talks about the 2018 having the issues that we are all aware of already. I don't think that message applies to your 2015 so I'd search other older threads to see if the 2015s had any TBC installation issues.

Does anyone know how to sue Ford (or the dealer who sold me the truck)? I happen to have 53B and my $34000 brand new truck is sitting at the dealer and collecting dust since last Thursday. The lady from Ford's executive office tells me nothing is wrong with my truck, and I should be driving it. Bul****, I bought the Fu*king truck to tow a travel trailer.

That is what I did, spliced into the jumper adapter (3036) instead of directly into the behind the dash factory plug-in. (You can see details earlier in this thread.) The dealer actually paid for this to be done by a third party mechanic, total cost was about $150. Anyway it works just fine, I've been happily towing away and experiencing no issues with the controller (Tekonsha P3) or the integrated sway control, etc. (Did not need to flash or upgrade anything. (Although I don't know if that is the case when installing an OEM controller.) If at some later time, there is a recall, and we all get new fuse boxes, I haven't touched any of the factory wiring. BTW my STX truck didn't come with the full tow package, just the factory hitch and 7 prong plug.
