If you end up going with an aftermarket controller, get a Tekonsha Prodigy P3. It's an excellent unit and has some diagnostic features not found on the factory controller. Sorry to hear about the '18 problem. By 2006, Ford had the ITBC essentially perfected. I don't know why they had to screw with it.

Unless someone can confirm the 2018 uses a completely different controller,

Default 2018 brake controller

The same company as above has the 2018 version for 119. They said it is different.

Hello FibermillBob

I would wait unless you have a towing job soon that requires trailer brakes. The integration and ease of install make it worth purchasing. I have a few suggestions. Purchase the controller from a online retailer such as tascaparts.com or Amazon. Once you get the part in your hands then make an appointment to have it installed at the dealership. I went this route and ended up saving $50.00. The dealership charges $60-$80 to install since they have to program the computer module.

2018 owner, same here, dealer said no brake controller for a while, maybe spring time. Current one "will not talk to the computer". Going with aftermarket p3. In his parts computer none (ford) are listed for our 2018's. I tried other dealers with my Vin and he was correct.

Fibermillbob - Post #10
I just purchased a new 2018 F150 and the dealer was going to add the Ford factory brake controller. Now they say it is presently not available and there will be an unknown delay. Problems with production. Anyone have an idea what is really going on.
Seems that what is really going on was mentioned by the OP in Post #8

Apparently there is a build issue with the 18 5.0 combo and the plug in for the factory/aftermarket controller does not have power or a fuse block...
And that Ford is aware of the problem and is developing a fix. I'd use the highly-praised Tekonsha Prodigy P3 and when the issue with the factory install is sorted you might install that. Good luck.

These brake controllers still aren't available as an accessory add-on kit.
Has anyone tried using the factory one yet? JL3Z-2C006-AA
