Just finished putting a little over 6K towing miles on the new computer and so far it's working good. I got about 15K on the original one so lets see if this one will last longer.

I purchased a new 2015 4x4 supercrew with max tow package. At purchase I could not get the inside lights to my cargo trailer to function. Checked all fuses and wiring and found them to be intact. Come to find out this was a software glitch that was not allowing for the charging line to run the auxiliary trailer lights OR CHARGE THE
BREAKAWAY BATTERY for the trailer. Really safe condition for a manufacturer to put out on our highways huh???? Luckily a sharp tech at the dealership had the moxie to figure out something was not right and checked for TSB. He re-flashed the computer and Shazam issue fixed!
So when you run into quirky problems with 7 way wiring don't think wires/fuses think software. Ford has seen fit to change the entire towing package to fly wireless and checking connections and voltage is not enough.

Get ready for fire. Your controller will literally burn up if you do not get it replaced. Get to dealer ASAP before it happens. They've got a new generation of controllers to replace the old one. So far my replacement has been doing fine. My first controller got hot enough to melt. If I had not been in the vehicle to smell it my vehicle likely would have burned. There are TSBs on this but don't know#. Bottom line, no fuse blows and it's a computer problem causing sensors to send constant voltage to brake line and controller. Its a known fire hazard yet no recall has been done. Really disappointed in Ford and I've been an F150 owner since 1972.

I just recently purchased a used 2015 F150 XLT 3.5 EB 4x4 with the integrated TBC and experienced similar issues when I connected my trailer. As soon as I put it in gear it would say "Trailer Disconnected" and the brake controller seemed like it wasn't working but when I squeezed it I noticed it would apply the trailer brakes. I programmed my trailer and set it to "electric/hydraulic" and although the trailer brakes really didn't work during my trip I didn't think much about it. After reading this ENTIRE thread I've noticed some people got their Ford dealership to install an updated TBC - (FL3Z-2C006-AB) with what I've read provided good results and no more issues. The standard TBC for a '15 is FL3Z-2C006-AA. Doing more research I found that Tasca Parts Center online sells a newer TBC controller - model GL3Z-2C006-CA for '15 - '16 F150s. I'm curious if this is a solution to the problem? I bought this truck to tow and was very pleased with my first trip with the truck but really don't want the truck to catch fire in the cab due to the TBC module or have the brakes on my trailer lock up on my next trip. Anyone have this newest TBC installed and if so did it solve the problem?

Have you tried reseating the 4/7 pin connector and harness from the backside of the bumper? I would get intermittent false trailer disconnects/reconnects (still do occasionally). It finally went solid where I would plug in, the truck would detect the trailer and as soon as I used the brakes or manual control it would disconnect and stay that way. After going through the trailer I cleaned and reseated the 4/7 pin backside connector and everything worked again. It is a poor design in my mind and I intend to get it back to the dealer at some point to see if there is an engineering change or alternative connector that eliminates the extra connection.

I haven't checked the 4/7 plug or wiring yet but it seems pretty clear to me that the '15 TBC modules are the culprit, just wanted to get verification from some people who have gotten the lastest TBC module that it fixed their issues. I will venture out and check the wiring later today but would still prefer to get the most up to date TBC module for piece of mind.

I'm wondering if this is the cause of my problem I'm having. With my new TT if I apply the brakes I will get a gain message followed by a trailer disconnected message.

I scheduled an appointment with my local Ford dealer in Eugene, Oregon. Told the writer the issues I was having, dropped the truck off and about 3 hours later they called me and told me it was fixed. Turned out it was programming issue, they updated the software and now it works just fine. I've pulled our 16' flat bed and our 24' camper and the controller works as it should. No issues and it was all covered under warranty!

This was the correct diagnosis. Picked the truck up yesterday after they indicated they flashed the brake controller with and updated firmware.

Just had the chance to take the trailer for a spin and it was excellent.
