Default Photobucket uploads

Photobucket has made an update in the past 24 hours that forces users to pay to display their images on a third-party site.

You may see forum threads that were previously filled with images for builds, DIY, etc. now display an error image.

The new plan asks that users pay for a Photobucket Plus 500 subscription for $399 per year.

Here are some additional details from PCMAG:
https://www.pcmag.com/g00/news/35471...s-the-internet

I wanted to send this notice out as some users may get confused and ask why we are trying to charge them $400 to see thread images. This is not a change on our end, this is simply an unfortunate update from Photobucket.
Users are encouraged to host images locally in our gallery or through attachments.

The photos can still be found and saved locally from Photobucket by the original uploader or anyone can use tools like the Internet Archive below to find a cached copy of the thread and save the images to rebuild any broken threads:
https://archive.org/web/

Let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns that come up.

I hope all is well and Happy 4th of July!

Lenn

Photo bucket is going to lose a lot of users over that. I use Image shack. $37.99/yr unlimited. Referral link if anyone's interested https://imageshack.com/signup/lmlxen...ZZXHbMWexcebmw

Been a member now for almost 5 years, image editing built in, easy to use.

They also have a free account but it's limited, see the link above for more information.

I've never used them, but their new Terms of Service make for interesting reading on their FB page

Hey Lenn,
Is there going to be any way to go back and update the links to our photos from past posts? I'm downloading all my photos from the bucket and uploading them to my own website, and was going to point the pictures there. Can't update posts more than about a day old though.

the first time I saw $399 per year I thought for sure someone forgot a decimal. but nope. I've got 2900 pictures on there. what a waste.

Also considering doing this to some key threads, but am unable to edit original post since it's so old. Any ideas Lenn?

I'm working on a way to change the edit window. I'll finish this probably Monday when I get back home.
