Default Spring compressors optional?

So I have me an 01 2wd 4door Lariat with the 5.4. My wife bought me the 3” strut spacers for the front of my truck for Christmas. I’ve read that to install them the spring compressors aren’t mandatory to use... can anyone confirm this? Can I just drop the assembly and install the spacer?

TIA

then use them. and if i were you i would take them to a suspension shop to be compressed. I do NOT trust the C-clamp style you can rent

working with coil springs is no joke, one of those suckers lets loose you won't feel it hit you....
