I’ve been reading a lot of these build threads and I’ve gotta say.....
im stealing a lot of people’s ideas now. Haha
heres my 2017 xlt sport. I bought it brand new September 2017. It is magnetic grey. 2wd. 5.0. Came with spray in Bed liner, backup camera, Shifter in the center consol, and that’s about it. Pretty basic other than that. The week I got it I had the windows tinted, got some floor liners for the front and rear, and lowered the rear 2 inches. Then did nothing but drive it for about 6 months. Then I did a flowmaster delta 44 muffler and a k&n intake. And then swore to
the wife that was it. “I’m not going to sink a bunch of money into this one.” I lied. She knew better. Fast forward to March 2019. Time for tires, or should I say leveling kit wheels and tires. So it started. I threw a cheap amazon 2.5 leveling kit on the front. Some 18” MB wheels, don’t remember the model so I’ll call them typical black with simulated bead locks. And Michelin atx or whatever. They are garbage. But they are 275/65/18 and fit good. Then I did a black mesh with rivet frame grill. Then did the amazon special start-x plug and play remote start. Works good. No complaints. Cheap considering what it used to cost to do an aftermarket remote start. Next came the barricade Offroad running boards. A nice touch, the wife approved. Then I got the deezee tailgate assist, and the center console organizer tray, another amazon special, and everyone that has the full center console needs to get this thing. Now the latest is some aftermarket black housing headlights with led highs and lows. Like everyone else I was super uneasy about buying the $150 eBay headlights. But it worked out. They fit perfect, like oems, and so far haven’t had any condensation in them.
So now for the to-do list. Or as I like to call it: the list that consists of non-needed, all wants, and I’ll justify each part as if I needed it to keep it running.
I’m going to ditch the 2.5 leveling kit for the maxtrac 4.5” spindles in the front and the maxtrac 1” lift shackles in the rear. Yes I’m one of those guys that likes the rear to sit a little lower than the front.
Then I’ll do 35” Toyo open country ats.
Then I’ll swap out the front bumper for the DV8 “Baja”
front bumper. Then the rear bumper. I haven’t decided on what one exactly, but it will be some kind of tubular prerunner style.
After that I’m kicking around the idea of getting the seats custom upolstered. I really liked the look of the sport seats that were black with red stitching and “sport embroidered in them in red stitching. I’ve seen a couple sets for sale on eBay, but didn’t buy them. Which I regret now.
Eventually I’ll do the stereo.
Probably all alpine type s as I’ve always done.
And maybe the navigation radio that Americantrucks.com has on their website.
There will be random little upgrades here and there, I’ll post pictures as I get new parts.

What did you use to lower the rear 2 inches? Do you like the Delta 44?
Jeff
i used 2” drop shackles. Right now I am at 1” under stock in the rear. The shackles I bought had the option for 1” or 2” under stock. I had to trim the bed support rails a little when it was lowered 2”. And when I changed it to the 1” I had to cut the shackles between the 1” and 2” holes because it was hitting the bottom of the bed. I like the delta 44. It sounds good. I kept the stock resignator. It was too loud without it.
A little late, but I finally got a little more meat on the road now. Toyo open country ats 295/70/18. So like a 34 or so. Have a little bit of rubbing when I back up and cut it sharp. But I only have a 2.5 leveling kit on it. 4.5” spindles are on their way so won’t be rubbing much longer.
