If you are happy with the tires that you have now I suggest just getting aftermarket UCA's. 4" lifts look nice with larger tires but honestly for the work and cost required to do it, I believe a level with adequately sized tires are better. That way you have more cash to regear and tune.

lol, you must have been reading my mind, I have been hanging out and reading your thread about the Grimm UCA's you installed. Why did you go with Grimm vs BDS?

I like what I have, the tires look great, the ride is the height I like, I do sell houses for a living, so showing up in a lifted truck may turn some people off (I work with a lot of younger couples and they all seem to mod their cars/truck) I showed houses today and the wife commented on my truck, kind of took me by surprise, apparently, she has a 2018 F150 and the husband has Honda Accord, not something you hear every day, but she was asking all kinds of questions on the truck. lol, I told her once they buy the house, go to F150 Forum and it will make her want to spend some money.

I am still learning, how deep do I go with regearing, I have the 8.8 - I was looking at this, but then I see people say if you are in there go ahead and do your differentials? Seeing that I am like this seems too much, especially with me going offroad very little, and off-road in Florida is very different than other areas of the country.

I have the 3.55 - with my size tires I am at 3.28

If I go to (if I am doing this correct)

4.11 - 3.79
4.56 - 4.21

I am reading about engine RPM's and cruising speed on the highway - I cruise around 73 to 75 mph. But my truck doesn't get a lot of highway travel unless it's a trip, the Keys, Tennessee, or to the Florida Panhandle. I only have 28k miles on the truck and 8k to 10k miles of that is on trips, back and forth from Orlando to Pensacola when we moved to Orlando, Keys 4 times, Tennessee 2 times.

I kind of knew this would be an issue. Stock wheels and tires are right around 81 pounds - I am at 61 with the tires and 35 for the wheels. 96 pounds on each corner. That was my limit and why I didn't go any bigger because I would have been looking at 66 pounds on each tire the next size up. Which would have been 20 pounds more on each corner vs 15 pounds I am at now.

If I would have stayed stock wheels and didn't want to go too much heavier on tires, I really looked at the 275/60/20 Durtracs (one size up from stock) - They are 46 pounds each and I think they are only 3 pounds heavier than stock and they look aggressive. I like the look, but they didn't make a 285/65/20 they make a 285/60/20 and they are 60 pounds each.

At one time I think I was spending an hour plus researching wheels and tires, it got exhausting.

The Grimms UCAs came with the Bilstein kit I ordered from Stage 3, was only an additional $200 over the cost so said why not. They have worked great and allow for increased joint movement over stock so I am happy with them. I will be swapping them out for Icon Vehicle Dynamics UCAs in the next couple of years, depends on how the Uni-ball holds up.
Not sure what people are meaning by doing differentials? When you regear you are changing the ring and pinion and leaving the carrier alone. There is no real added benefit to mess with the carrier unless you do not have the rear locker. The Super 8.8 is fine for your needs and really anybody else's. The 9.75 just comes standard for folks are put more stress on the rear end by towing.

I hear you on the exhausting research part, some of the stuff just gets me annoyed and exhausted and i stop for a while.

I have 3.73's and they're fine on the highway, i think the reality is between 3.33 and 3.73's is only a few hundred RPM when in top, so it's mostly a torque multiplier thing which gives you a great accel boost and/or corrective gearing for larger/heavier wheel/tyres.

Just talked to my neighbor and my OEM towing mirrors were delivered today, On Saturday that will be the first thing I do is replace these eBay ones. I know a lot of people say they had good success with the after-market ones, not me, wind noise is god awful and they shake starting at 10 mph.

Hopefully no issues with the OEM ones, they are 600 dollars from fairway ford (I went direct instead of on email and saved 30 dollars) vs 250 for the after market ones, but its the little things that bug me.

I posted this also in the aftermarket reviews, but I thought I would post this also here - this forum IMO is about helping others and if this saves one person the hassle I went through great

TOW MIRROR - Buyer Beware

https://www.ebay.com/itm/274134402829

They have great ratings, But the mirrors are a piece of junk, terrible wind noise after 10 mph, awful shaking on the top mirror after 10 mph.

I bought them about 40 days ago just put them on before a trip to the Keys, (10 days ago maybe) I tried weatherstripping etc for the wind noise, nothing worked.

Started communicating with them when I got to the keys about a replacement, they were slow about responding, and finally last night I had enough when they told me they would send me the parts I needed (Ummm what?) and put a return request in for them through eBay, they have sent me 3 messages today about giving me 120 dollars back and no to return when I already told them I bought the OEM ones (yes, they are 600 dollars, but my buddy has them on his truck and they are much more solid than these mirrors, not wind noise, no shaking)

Just be careful if you are looking for a tow mirror, I ended up buying OEM ones from Fairway Ford, on eBay they are $659 shipped, if you go direct through them they are $622 I believe.

I will update when I get back from the Keys and put the OEM ones on, just wanted everyone to beware and don't waste your time or money with this eBay seller.

Got home and took off the aftermarket tow mirrors, the OEM ones are a lot more solid and seem to weigh more.

And there is zero wind noise and no shaking of the mirror. They are so much nicer than the cheap ones I bought from eBay.

Btw eBay seller now wants to give 180 dollars back instead of a full refund snd I can keep these, smh

A few other little projects in the works that came this week while I was out…..all from Stage3

looking into new gears, good chance I will go with 4.11

Leaning towards Nitro gears

they are supposedly made in the same plant in South Korea as the OEM ones.

I found a couple of people in Orlando comfortable
replacing them. Also going to do UCA’s from BDS.

I have a sweet deal on the Fox 2.5 coil overs that are normally 2200 dollars, but I am debating because I just don’t go off-road. But that may change soon. lol

A few more projects on the way

Suspension, and gearing come first

Raptor Paddle Shifter Harness, lighted vanity mirror, and Raptor 3rd brake light (I have the light on the way from fairway)

If I am going to do the Raptor Paddles and Vanity Mirror I may end up doing the cooled seats.

@2016BoostedGreyGoose thanks for the instructions and fast shipping

Apparently we are both in Central Florida. Small world.
