I should have taken a photo. It really wasn't bad--not a lot of black, just some grime. The dealer didn't try to sell me on a filter when I was in last week for warranty and inspection... but for as cheap & easy as it was, I figured I would just get it done.

That's good. I'm at 26k right now, so my next oil change at 30k will have a filter replacement again. Hopefully it's not as bad this time around haha.

The application is going well. Clearcoat will go on shortly. The two boneheaded things I've done:

Did you paint over the chrome? If so, How is it holding up?

I did. It's holding up OK. In the high-wear areas (specifically, the top of the driver-side door handle), it's showing some dull chrome through a little. Unless you're looking for it, you'd miss it. I'll probably eventually pull these and the mirror caps off and have them done at the same shop that did my grille.

I painted mine a little while ago and it's holding up great. If you decide to try it yourself, make sure you use a few coats of adhesion promoter first after the handles are sanded and cleaned really well. Then primer, then base, then clear. If you do all of that, you shouldn't have any issues at all.

Right on. I won’t be doing this myself and I have had some shops say it won’t last and others that say it will. Guess it all depends on the prep.

a while back when I was looking at member builds and I saw a guy who installed some raptor style lights in the definition bar of the platinum grill. I though it was you but can find the pics again. Was it you that did that?

I recall that thread. It wasn't me, unfortunately.

20,880 miles

I've started to notice a howl from the KO2s in the last few hundred miles. They still have lots of tread left. I'll rotate them soon. I've been running them at about 45 psi for right around 15,000 (unfortunately, all paved) miles, so I'm probably due.

You may want to drop the pressure as well. Anymore than 40 PSI in mine and I don't get full contact. I run 40 hot and 35 cold, and rotate them every 5k miles with my oil changes. 21k miles later, no howling and Discount Tire said they're wearing perfectly even.

I set the tires at 45 psi based on reading these forums and on my own feel. Below that, ride quality suffered. They feel great at 45.

I just went out and did a chalk test on the tires, still warm and at 45 psi from my commute in. The results of two tests are... indeterminate. Even wear patterns across the tread with no high spots after driving 1/4 mile and again after maybe 500 yards. That's supposed to mean the pressure is spot-on, but then, I've never actually tried this test before. I took photos, but the upload isn't working with my iPad.

I wanted to put 1" blocks back in the rear, so I scheduled an appointment for Monday to do that and to rotate the tires.
