Ok, the final mod (for now) is complete. Decided against the chrome bars in the middle of the grille. Went ahead and wrapped them up in 3M Gloss Black Metallic, same as the rest. Didn't take pics because the truck is crazy dirty again (sigh), but it basically looks like this now thanks to photoshop.

I like the all black better for sure...

Solid mod list and great looking truck! Keep up the good work, Alborn.

Well, I thought I was done upgrading this truck but it looks like I needed one more thing...

Just pulled the trigger on AMP power steps! Should get them installed over the weekend and I'll hopefully get some pics up soon after.

Ran into a bit of a hiccup with a RMA return because of some damage however, I finally got the new set on and found time to give her a bath for pics. Three hours of installing and adjusting with a few beers and a couple bloody knuckles was all worth it when my 2 year old saw them deploy and said "wow, dat's pwetty cool daddy" hahaha. It's the little things in life.

Anyway, couple pics of them tucked in and deployed. I'm sure this is nothing new for everyone as these have been around forever, but this is probably the single best upgrade I've done so far!

Been thinking about those for a while now. Keep us posted on how they are working for you.

Cheers,
Pete

Been a little over a year now, and they're still working perfectly. I had one instance of "binding" but a little WD40 and haven't had a problem since. They worked flawlessly through the MN winter last year, even with ice/salt buildup.

Since the last pics, the wrap on my grill has gone to hell. I pulled the trigger on a PTM STX Sport Grille and now have that installed. Changed a few other little things as well. Once I get around to washing the damn thing, I'm gonna post some updated pics. The ole girl has 140K miles on now :(

For the steps, especially where you are, pressure wash the pins/hinges, and use a dry silicone or dry PTFE spray lube liberally on the pins whilst actuating them, easiest to just quickly unscrew the motor at the rear to move the step by hand.

I have a similar black truck, we're the tow hooks powdercoated or did you buy them like that. I'm actually having a hard time finding ones in red. I found ones that look identical for a newer style truck, wasn't sure if they fit, guess I'll be the test mule on that.. sharp truck, I want to do the steering wheel mod and engine cover mods now lol

Haha, thanks for the kind words! I have an addiction to making things my own/custom. I've since swapped to a genuine Raptor steering wheel only because I found a really good deal on one and my other one was starting to wear a little. So rather than fix it, just replaced it since I couldn't pass up the price I found. The engine cover mod is one of my favorite things I've done. I get compliments by the techs at Ford every time I bring it in for an oil change haha.

Now, to answer your question. Those are the factory tow hooks, I just took them off and brought them into a local guy here that does powder coating. They were black/boring and starting to rust a bit, so I took the opportunity to add some color and have them done. They're extremely easy to take off and put back on. The guy here has his own little shop and charges stupidly low prices, so it was a no-brainer for me. I've had several things coated by him for my truck.
