Glad you made a build page, I remember seeing your blue truck in some of the SuperCab threads
i always dug it with the camper shell, excited to see what you do with the new truck
I as well upgraded due to the little one, the crew cab is great for the car seat
How do you like the 3.5 over the 2.7?

I kept my bed storage and I’m gonna cut it down to fit the shorter bed, I’m thinking I’ll just throw one of those softoppers on for long camping and hunting trips. Nothing crazy. It’s nice to take the trash off without fooling with the shell. I still miss the shell tho, that look on a truck is awesome I think. The crew cab is killer with the family tho.
The overall goal for this rig is be a solid weekend warrior to pull out pop up and run the back roads fishing and such. I took it on some Forest service roads back during hunting season stock and bought coilovers the next week haha. That blue truck rode like a dream.
So my first impression of the 3.5 was along the lines of “this is it”?I guess my expectations were unrealistic ha. The 2.7 seemed snappier and off the line and was a rocket ship. Maybe it was the 6 speed. The 3.5 has grown on me. It really shines above 55 where the 2.7 seemed to fade out. It just KEEPS pulling. I seen a post where if you cycle the ignition 3 times and hold the gas pedal it “recalibrates” the gas pedal. I did that and now the 3.5 doesn’t seem as laggy. Maybe it’s just in my head haha. Overall I’d say the 2.7 is a solid bullet proof engine, I never had an issue. The 3.5 is gonna meet my towing needs better I feel.
