Nice truck, I really like that color. I currently have a V8 Grand Cherokee and probably would've went with a Wrangler, but as you mentioned, they just don't tow well, and ultimately that's what put me off of buying one. I've always been at a loss as to why the Wranglers are so incapable of towing. A body on frame, solid axle vehicle should be able to tow more than 3500lbs. Even my car-based Pilot can tow 4500.

The limiting factor on them is the suspension. It is made to articulate, and thus is less stable when towing something. If you've never driven one go take a test drive on the highway on a really windy day, you'll see what I mean. It was also under powered at highway speed. Not to mention with the heavy bumpers, winch, larger tires, and such I was right at if not over payload when towing. It's a great toy and not a bad daily driver, but towing is just something it's not meant to do unless maybe it was a small popup. I do miss it a bit, but aside from extreme offroading, the truck can do so much more.

I do love those new grand cherokees though. My wife drives a 2000 cherokee 4.0 now and will probably be looking for a new vehicle for her soon. Although now she has her heart set on a mustang.

Oh I get the stability thing, mine's a WJ, solid axle front and rear as well. Very similar to the JK up front, rear setup is different though, having a 3-link instead of what the Wrangler has. I do believe power/torque has something to do with it too, but I thought the Pentastar would've helped that out. My '04 WJ can tow 6500lbs and I've towed 5k a couple times and it tows like a champ. But I totally agree, the trucks in my opinion are more versatile, that's why I'm going back to one myself.

The WK2's are nice, you wouldn't be disappointed. My in-laws are on their second one. I've driven both of them and they're very nice. I've had 5 Jeeps, 4 of them Grand Cherokees and the WK2 is definitely the best on road vehicle, much better than the ZJ, two WJ's, and WK I've had, though they have departed quite a bit from their original roots...but that's what Wranglers are for.

So I had some issues with the engine dying after pulling our trailer the first time. Last night while accelerating on the highway the engine cut out and displayed low oil pressure. When I got home and checked, after waiting 15 minutes, I had no oil on the dipstick. Took it to the dealer today and alerted them of TSB 17-0007. They called me back and told me ford is sending me a new engine. You can read more details in my thread here: https://www.f150forum.com/f118/engin...railer-374052/

Long story short, ford replaced the engine. Everything seemed okay, but I was quite unhappy to have a 4 month old truck with major work done to it and I started seeing a few cases online where some people had the new engine go bad as well. After talking with ford they would not buy the truck back, but offered to give me some extra money towards my trade in. This brought me within a couple thousand of what I paid for the truck. So I picked this up last night, 2016 5.0 Lariat. Not sure if I'll make a build thread yet as I'm planning on leaving this one as is for a while aside from tinting the front windows.
