Default Just painted

I just painted my headlights useing this method and they turned out nicely. It was a real PITA to seperate but the results were awsome. Had no change in the brightness of the lights.

Belive it or not i used plasti dip. i was not sure if i would like the color of flat black, semi gloss or a high gloss paint and i planed on installing the halo kit later on, so i may just peel it off and repaint.

That part was fine. I baked at 250 for 10 min. then used a butter knife to cut around the whole seam of the assembly. Once I did that I worked a corner got it open enough to get my fingers in and just used my muscle and pulled a part. I had to do all of that while it was still hot, if not I had to bake them again. The glue will harden up quick so you have to be fast about it. The Funny thing was my kids were laughing saying we were going to have truck parts for dinner.

I have a 05 with the rectangular fog lights. Has anyone done this mod to a similar model? I like the painted look but am kind of concerned on the appeance against those fog lights. All of the housing is the mirror edges, so I don't think it would be a good idea to paint them to match. Any pics?

My two cents - I have baked & disassembled headlights on a previous vehicle without any really issues.

My 2013 f150 headlights didn't bake and pull apart easily at all, attempting to so the Mh1 retro from TRFS, good prompt service from them btw.

I baked each light at 225F for 20x4! Didn't pull apart.

Don't waste your time with the oven, buy a heat gun right away. Best $20 you'll ever spend.
