Someone has to have work done on their Eco and it's the biggest POS ever made.
Its quite obvious why this is happening. Coming from the IT World, we classify things are Incidents and Problems. An incident would be if you're driving down the road and get a flat tire. A problem would be driving on a bald tire and not taking action to rectify the problem. This could lead to an incident.

So far, the 5.0L has had incidents, just like any other manufactured moving part. In the case of the Ecoboost, there are known problems. This translates into more uncertainty and curiosity in why that component failed. If there was no misfiring problem on the Ecoboost, those failures would simply be treated as isolated Incidents, and not a cause for major concern.

EDIT - Although some people are just haters. On both sides of the fence.

I assume the post you quoted was referring to my truck, but I agree with you 100%. I've not been pleased with the fact that my motor needs to be replaced, although the whole process has been pleasant. From first noticing a problem, trying to duplicate and diagnose the problem, then going through the channels of dealership, mechanic, and Ford reps for the mechanic and for me relating to customer service, has been better than I could ever expect. I read all the post about people not knowing whats wrong with their EB's, so I feel very fortunate that there is a solution to my problem that has been handled as well as it possibly could.

Interesting article that explains the differences between gas and diesel turbos.

5.0L V8 can handle E85. Rather simple installation of a hidden winch.

You know what sully, you are right. I mean what else can we expect from Ford other than for them not to do their research and put out crap engines in trucks. I can't believe they are going to actually put out an engine in their most popular money making vehicle that won't last because they were too cheap to do their research to put out a quality product. Why they hell are we even buying trucks from a company that does this, and purposely sells stuff that won't last. This is just despicable. I am going down to the Ram dealer right now and trade this pile in to buy a truck from a company who knows what they are doing.

Good point with the winch... but quite a few guys are running E-85 in EcoBoost... I'd be running it in mine instead of methanol if it weren't so hard to get. Someone told me you can get some like and hour and a half away but that's kinda far for some fuel. All it takes to run E85 is a few changes in your programming.

Did you read the article? It doesn't trash turbos. What it does is explain why diesel turbos last so long, and why you shouldn't expect to get the same mileage from gassers. Don't expect the turbos to rack up 500,000 miles.

It also states reasons why to have a gas turbo mechanic versus a diesel mechanic, because it requires specialized knowledge.

Anyway, the most important thing is it dispels the widely held myth that because diesel turbos last so long, gas turbos will too.

I personally believe Ford rushed this technology to market, their first direct injection twin turbo gas engine. I believe Ford will get it right, but it isn't there yet.
