There needs to be a choice in the poll: “The TSB makes matters worse”
I have lived with this TSB for one month now. Plain and Simple it is dangerous and stay away from it, it makes matters much worse. Here is what it does:
1. If cruising steady state for a long period on the highway and water is building in the IC to create the surging and missing; and then when attempting to pass or accelerate in just in a light to moderate fashion and the engine begins to shake violently and the missing becomes sever, you may be tempted to accelerate even more aggressively but still far from flooring it……….then even just that moderate to almost heavy acceleration will cause the engine to completely just down to idle………all while you are trying to pass. This is a very dangerous situation. Apparently this is some type of “protection mode” Ford is using to protect the engine; but it may get someone killed.
2. Next problem is the plastic IC cover. As noted in the owner’s manual under high heat operation the use of premium fuel is recommended in order to maintain engine performance and power. On my 4x2 3.55 configuration that is around 105 degrees without the flap (meaning change to premium above 105 degrees if I required maximum power for towing), now with the flap that is reduced to about 95-96 degrees. The IC cover flap causes both a loss of power and this is very noticeable in high heat operation AND is combined a loss of MPGs.

Im in houston as well. Just had the update done for shifting issues. No change felt in power. It just shifts so much better for mine. I have never had the "condensate issue" so i cannot comment on how it effected that.

Long story,
Since new i always felt my truck shifted way too hard at light throttle. It was also kinda unpredictable at light throttle, never gave me any issues just annoying on a 50k truck. At 9k i bought a 5star device hoping the revised shifting strategy would help. (great product by the way) but.. it did not fix the issue. It actually magnified it. Mike advised me to try the 2-2012 tsb. I did and instantly my 2-3 shift felt normal. Soft and lazy like a STOCK truck should. It has been 3 days now and i actually enjoy driving the truck again. I am going to wait a while before i reload the tune. I am hoping to get confirmation that the SCT will not undo any changes the Ford flash installed.
The service writer mentioned that this TSB corrected some issues with knock sensors and shifting strategy to prevent the studder under load. A problem when i never really had. ....Very impressed with the local dealership and there warranty service.
