This could be a movie, except there are too many stars.

All the speculation in the world is just that, speculation. Wait for the final outcome from ghost and then make decisions based on fact. There are 400,000 eco's out there and they are not all in the shop. Unfortunately ghost has a problem child truck that has been poorly addressed.
It's mighty nice to know that after we all spent what we spend on these trucks now days. Maybe if the trucks were 80k we could expect quality work on warranty repairs? Surely dealers take warranty work more seriously than that?

But that didn't have anything to do with my comment about the master techs theory about the Eco's weaknesses. My comment was just to imply that Ghost's issues have nothing to do with the Eco's weaknesses. More like lack of diagnosing the issue that is causing all of these engine failures.
Even still, firing late wouldn't warm it up, at least not if you can't completely burn the fuel. But I agree with you, I really believe the technicians at this dealer just don't know engines. My dealer has such confidence in the engines that the bulk of the sales staff drive F150s with the Ecoboost engines, as well as units sold to family. In fact, they sell few 5.0s by comparison.

Maybe, but like it has been presented, many add tuners and whatnot and have few issues. I really think the technicians are to blame. Mind you, after all this drama you'd think someone at Ford of Canada would have clued in to an engine grenading so many times. It just defies logic, because warranty statistics are closely monitored and just the fact that multiple major repairs on the same VIN would normally initiate a personal visit from a regional service rep. I would think that would happen, because they won't keep paying over and over again if they don't have to. They'd want to inspect the vehicle very closely to determine the most cost effective next move.

I wonder what the dealer's service reps are actually telling Ford?

Very interesting...

I'd love to know what the failure rates are for the EB. If there really is a design flaw, you should have scads of folks coming out of the woodwork wanting to be made whole.

Seems as if such a serious flaw would have shown up in stress testing when the engine was under development. The things they subject engines to when they are proving them is crazy.

Lol no. After having worked at multiple dealerships, you would be appalled at some of the bull**** that SOME techs do to shave time off of the repairs in order to get more hours. Some fools take no damn pride in their work. Don't get me wrong, there are alot of good techs that take pride in what they do. But I hope my motor never craters on me so I don't have to risk having my truck assigned to some jackass kid who half asses the repair.

This entire post along with the original have become completely out of hand. I have never seen so many drama queens never buying fords again or spreading the eco boost/ford bad news to the entire world. Give me a break, the engine is a beefed up 3.5 liter with turbos on it not a time bomb disguised as an engine. The dealers that ghost has worked with have done a poor job especially after the 2 nd engine blew. Don't think for a second ford won't be all over the dealers for wasting so much money. Another thing, keep "spreading the word" that ford and the ecoboost are flawed and junk all over the internet. Next go try and trade in your your trucks to a Chevy or dodge dealer and loose your *****. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.

I have some good news for you my friend.

but first, the bad news. lol
my friend went to Vancouver for the weekend to spend with his family.
anyways I managed to leave a message and he will call me when he gets in.

all in all, as for any appointment, please be prepared to lay down some brownbacks.

the good news is, from what I've said, he's surely going to return my call.

I do ask tho, could you let me know via pm....
which dealership did you take it to?

random question for the day...

It's actually turned around the past 2 pages to good technical discussion, I like it.

I kinda wonder if this whole case is like that of the news reporter rattling of the names of the Asiana pilots. So many people saw it beforehand yet nobody caught it. I'm wondering if it was just one of those few times where it slipped everyone's eyes. Seems unlikely but it happens everywhere all the time. Just a thought.
