Rolling - Never any lag.

From idle with no brake - Lots of lag

Brake boost it up even as little as 200rpm - **** and get.

Truck idles pretty low... if you brake it up just a little it will take off hard.

Hmm if there is one yet look into a custom tune and you can definitely say good-bye to any lag whatsoever. Do keep in mind though it is a turbocharger and not a supercharger...

Of course he has, whenever anyone is questioned they have always owned 5 corvettes, flown an F-18 and driven EVERY turbo vehicle made by man in the last decade!! This of course, makes him the foremost authority on TURBO LAG!!

That's odd; I have an Audi A4 and a VW CC, both with the 2.0T and the lag is similar to that on the Ecoboost.
It may be that the computer had not "learned" your driving habits...
Just my opinion.

I have personally never owned a turbo vehicle of any sort. I do however notice that when I punch the gas from a stop that it does go from "uhhhhh" to "son of jihad" real fast!! From my complete lack of knowledge in Turbo's I can tell where the "lag" is at, but to me it doesn't seem to take long at all before they are wound up!!

Agree completely....my 07 VMAx had more lag everywhere and took a custom tune to get rid of....
No issues with lag, power or pretty much anything with the EB...

yeah it has a delay, probably 1/2 second or less but lots less than the powerstrokes. don't know or care if its actual turbo delay or drive by wire delay. The point is that it is there. If the lag you experience is more than 1 second then I would try another truck

Some of this so called lag could be from either the "fly by wire" throttle and/or the emissions at low rpm directing exhaust gas into the cyclinders to reduce NOx. With all the electronics (including transmissions) there are parameters built it to "take it easy" on the equipment. A good "tune" should be able to modify them for crisper responses.

***Oh Yeah, I have driven other turbos. 12 and 24 hour SCCA Enduros if it really matters

Default Ecoboost lag

I have been driving My 2011 XLT 4x4 supercrew F150 with the Ecoboost engine for 4800 miles now, and I don't have any real turbo lag.
I did a 0-60 test last week, with the turbo's spun up holding the brake I
got to 60mph in 6.38sec. if I just let it idle and stomp on it I got from 0-60mph in7.1sec. Now that is with 3:31 gears.
So there must be something wrong with the truck you test drove. I have put 1500 miles on My truck towing a 6600LB camping trailer, and climbing steep mountain passes it is the best towing rig I've ever had.
I went up a 11 mile 6% grade at 70mph at only 2800rpm the whole way with lots of power left.

There is a little lag when just starting off the line, nowhere near as laggy as the diesels I owned. I drive this motor like a granny to save fuel but when I have to get up and go there is little if any hesitation.
