Sorry for your troubles. Yes, getting a dealer to look at a vehicle in (I assume) Fort Mac is a PIA. I've heard of having to book a month in advance just for an oil change and forget about body work. I'm looking at a FX4 with the same drivetrain set up as your truck. Is that US mpg or Imperial?

Ya fort Mac is BS. I took it back to Denny Andrews in Edmonton. That would be US mpg so 3.78L/US gal, which converts to 12.2 L/100km

(12.2L/100km) x 100km/62mile x 1 USgal/3.78L = 0.052 USgal/mile
1/0.052 USgal/mile = 19.2 USmpg

Just a note: on this drive I suspect I had a tail wind. I pulled over and checked and wind was blowing east to west, and I was heading south. When I drove my other vehicle back up to fort Mac it definatly felt like I was fighting a head wind.

5 days later and I finally have an update. Injector on Cylinder #1 is bad and it needs a new intake gasket. The parts status is "no stock" so the only thing I was told is that 8-10 days for the parts is their best guess.

I have to do some towing this weekend, and made it clear that I need the truck back by Friday morning. Since that is not happening Ford set me up with a rental truck that can tow. They are picking up the rental cost and I have to pick up $0.29/km and fuel (of course). Kinda sucks that I'll be paying hundreds of dollars in mileage charges, but theres not much I can do.

I have been very easy going despite this setback because I have a car I can drive. If this truck was my only vehicle I'm sure I would be pissed, but who knows, perhaps Ford would have put me in a rental for the full time I am inconvenienced.

I never noticed black smoke, but any of you guys with the EB notice that the tip of of the exhaust is all black, like the truck is running super rich?

Common problem with DI engines with piezo injectors running at such a high pressure they have shortened lives. All 6 were replaced on my 335i at about 60,000kms. Had really rough cold morning starts until it warmed up. If anyone is wondering yes I did get black smoke when the injectors died but the car still ran with a crazy misfire.

This might have been a one time occurance, better to have it now so it can be fixed than after the warranty as these injectors are $$.

Unfortunately the black exhaust tips are normal.

My mazdaspeed 6 would occasionally stutter when I would roll into the throttle like on an entrance ramp, and shoot out a puff of smoke, after that it took off
