Before I start I want to make sure I am not knocking Goodyear or the Silent Armor LTs. That are flat out Bad ***** tires that performed great in mud, snow, rocks, and road driving. Unfortunately I don't NEED that level of tire when it comes with poor gas mileage. Well after some discussions with Goodyear we came to agreement and they are reimbursing me a portion of the purchase price so I can get the tires I was considering in the first place. Firestone Destination A/T P275/65R18 replacing the the SilentArmor A/T LT275/70R18.
SilentArmor LT275/70R18 = 13mpg in city driving and dropping with 16mpg at 65mph and about 15.7 at 75mph.
Firestone Destination P275/65R18 = 15.7mpg in city driving and slowly climbing while driving more aggressively that with the SAs. Highway is 20.4mpg at 60mph and 19.6mpg at 75mph. Still over 19mpg at 80mph.
Had the Destinations on a previous truck and loved them. Based on the Goodyear Engineer and wanting a bigger tire, I went with the LT but as I didn't need them and couldn't justify the MPG loss. If you have a need for the SA LTs or a Diesel with less impact of tire weight I still strongly recommend the SAs.
