Dealer says i need a new motor

Another thing to consider--$13K is going to be a significant percentage of the truck's value at 158K miles. If it's worth $15K running, but you could get $5K for it with a blown engine, it's not worth that particular repair.

I'd have to think you could get that motor rebuilt for significantly less than 13k if you didn't use a dealership for service. Although a rebuild from a local shop wouldn't come with the same ford warranty, I'd bet you could get some nice internals installed and still come out way lower than what you were quoted.

Has there been tear down?
Sounds like you have a timing related failure. Have them check the timing chain for stretch. Its a common issue on those engines and can manifest in more ways then one.

Maybe i'm the only one, but i've never once used the oil life monitor as a basis for when to change my oil. I always go by mileage (every 5K).
Either way, $13K sounds like a lot of money to blow on that truck.

THIS!!!! The engine seems to be out of time. The dealer is ripping you off, I don't think you need a new engine. All the codes relate to misfires and cam shaft position. Either it's a chain tensioner, stretched chain or problems with the VCT system.

Me too,.. December 2020 my 2013 f150 twin turbo EcoBoost motor blew a rod through the
I feel like ford has let me down. I took care of my truck and the motor still blew with only 144,000 miles . Been reading about how they fixed problem in 2017 EcoBoost motor, but I think this motor is better placed in a car.
