Borg Warner Install Thread!!!
Hello everyone! So after almost a year of researching on which turbos i wanted to upgrade to, i finally decided to go with the Borg Warner OEM drop in's from Full Race. After talking to some people and reading other forums these seemed to be the right choice for my needs. Im not planning on having the fastest ecoboost out there! I wanted a very safe and reliable truck pushing around 400-450 hp at the wheels. Even though these have more then that for power! The option will always be there to tune for it

First thing i noticed with these pipes was the couplers...about a 1/4'' to big on the turbo outlet. Because I live in Canada the price it was to return them it was best for me to order new couplers that fit. The new couplers fit perfectly nice and snug. Other mods I have on the truck now are Full Races cac and I looove it! Full Race cat back resonated exhaust looove it! S&B oiled intake, solo performance high flow downpipes, and soon to receive Full Races catch can! https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...ac06627c80.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...f4dfcc581f.jpg Tuning, after much research i decided to let MPT performance tune for me. I purchased 3 tunes. A 93P street, 91P chill and 91 towing tune. I will be using 94 octane from Chevron on all tunes, i like to be a little higher on octane just in case i get a bad tank of gas. Today I remote logged a configuration file from Mike and have a base 91P tune ready to go. Side note, I feel sorry for Mike as I had no idea what I was doing on my end..but he kept in touch with me and so far im really happy with his support! I will be starting the install tomorrow afternoon and hoping to be driving around with a base tune Sunday night. ( I hope ). So stay tuned, i will post up pictures of my install later and let people know how easy or difficult these are to install. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...6e25a90023.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.f15...ebe04e2762.jpg |

Checking in with a beer break. So far its been easy just a lot needs to come off. Im about 5hrs in and both turbos are out. The passenger turbo is the hardest! You need to remove the y pipe and the starter to get at it. Then the coolant line is still a pain to get at. Using a pick tool was way easier like Geoff from Full Race stated..Thanks!
Bad news,, the turbo exhaust studs all the threads are shot and will need to be replaced. So ill be a sitting duck until those come in mid week now. Here is a side by side pic of the old and new turbo. Now to finish beer....s |
Also almost forgot, my inlet and outlet turbo pipes were all covered in oil. Really bad even with an Rx catch can...I ordered the Full Race catch can about 3 weeks ago and still waiting for it. I hope that one works better.

Went to my local ford dealer they had the studs in stock! Already have the driver side in going really smooth. Not an extremely hard job but time consuming forsure.

That is awesome! Can't wait to see the results!
