Default aFe Intake Status from Factory

Hello There, this is Jason Bruce from aFe Power. I saw this thread and wanted to provide you all some information on the status of this intake. We usually build a first run of around 25-50 units when we launch a new product. The first run was shipped a couple of weeks ago. We did however got hammered with orders that far exceeded this first build. We are in process with the next production run. We did have a hang up in our tube bending line which took us back further than normal. We are on track with our second production run and our tube line will be building the tubes next week. I expect a majority of our backorders will be shipped by June 8th. I am sorry we have not been able to hit our dates and fill our demand. We are working hard to get this product built and in your hands. Thank you for your comments and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at jbruce@afepower.com or call me on my office number at 951-493-7147. Thanks for the support.

I was planning on changing that coupler to a longer 4 ply for ease of mind. Saturday I took a 40 mile trip on the highway and was beating on a little bit here and thetre to see how the CAI performed. I kept noticing my boost numbers being rather low. So when I got to where I was going I checked everything out and low and behold the H pipe coupler was torn. So I had to replace with a 4 ply sooner than later. The longer coupler made bit of a difference for fitment purposes. Now the pipes are not rubbing and I dont have to worry about blowing one out. All in all I am very pleased with the system and I feel it has made a difference. Not a hugh difference in my opinion but when you tie in the CAI, exhaust and tune I think they all help.
Can you email me your contact information to jbruce@afepower.com? I would like to get with you on your coupler issue. I want to see if there are any corrections that may need to be made or if the couple chemistry was off. Thanks for your help.. Jason

Default aFe Follow Up

I also wanted to let you guys know we did some preliminary analysis on the coupler. We had an issue with the mold release lube that was not cleaned off properly that may have been the cause for this coupler tear. We are also looking at moving to a silicone based coupler on future units. If any of you have any issues with your intake, please contact me directly at 951-493-7147 or email me at jbruce@afepower.com. I will keep you informed with any other product corrections or improvements we make. Thank you all for your help....Jason

Well since nobody can seem to get their hands on one (except one member here) I doubt you will get much feedback about problems at this time.

Well I have to say, it is very good having aFePower_Jason here to answer our questions and keep us up to date on the AFE stage 2 for sure. I truly appreciate it my friend! Unfortunately, I had mine on order for a month and a half and finally got fed up with being told it was coming so I cancelled my order. Cancelling my order really bums me out though because this is one mod I DEFINITELY want and HAVE to have for my ecoboost! I holy hope that they start shipping fast enough that it becomes possible to actually obtain one soon...I have been sitting here with my credit card in my hand waiting and looking and waiting and looking.

Cheers!

It amazes me how many companies are coming out with aftermarket products for the newer F-150's and not planning for the demand due to the high volume of sales. Here we are in the middle of 2012 and it's still hard to find a lot of parts for the 2011's.

Now is this because Ford came out last year with the whole (you mod your truck and we will void your warranty deal)

Again I think this is just a Ford scare tactic. I've seen Ford sell trucks with a lot of mods installed and they have the same warranty as the other trucks. People have been putting air intake kits on for 25 years or more and I've never heard of somebody having their warranty work declined because of it. The same goes for exhaust kits.

BTW, where's the performance report on this AFE Kit now that it's been installed for a few days???

SpeeofSound, I am really sorry about our poor service here on this part. I am working with production and they think we can get some units out before months end and then have all of our backorders completed by early June. Completely our fault and unacceptable. I appreciate your support even though we have not met your expectations. I look forward to getting these parts out and getting some more feedback from the group.
