Jeb, what was your time and mph at 330 ft? My 60ft is what kills me, 2.29 in 4hi and 2.32 in 2wd on my fastest pass. I know my screws weight is whats hurting me and the lack of low rpm torque of the 5.0. Just wish i could improve that, its moving after that. Must not be bad as i think tho, never saw that hemi except in my mirror. Expected him to beat me out of the hole. I dont guess any modded 5.0s or ecos have ran at this track. My buddy said the little crowd in the staging area was talking bout what the hemi was goin to do. Said they went crazy when i walked away from him.

I stalled to no more than 1500, and it didnt seem to bog as if the computer pulled timing. I also held the button down to deactivate both systems, instead of just tapping it and only turning off traction control. Thanks alot for the tips guys. And for anybody wondering your tailgate weighs 60lbs, the spare tire and jack weighs 89lbs. I removed 206lbs from my truck in about 5min and ran with bout 5 gal of gas.

Thats the only trip ive made to the track, the old launch technique just felt real bad. I got good tips b4 going to the track. Been researching time slips on drag times. Mine is way off, trucks that 60ft in 2.3 like me are usually running hi 15s in the 1/4. Then my 330ft is way faster than them. They are usually close to 10.0 1/8, but i should be a 9.20s 1/8 goin by my 500ft et and mph. 9.20s 1/8 should be 14.20s-.30s 1/4 with a truck that pulls good on top end. Apologys in advance for the calculator racing. Just trying to make sense of my weak launch even with a better technique. Mike says its not the tune tho. I just have nothing to compare to because i havent seen a single person post times for a 5.0 screw

Mechanicboy, ive seen times like that in magazine test and such, for stock trucks, but what doep a truck with basic mods like me and u run. Our trucks are basically the same setup. If it werent 90+ already here i would tell u from the track tmrw.

There was a guy on here not to long ago that ran his 5.0 4x4 with 3.73 with only a tune. Don't quote me but I believe his times were:
5 Star tune:
15.5 stock
15.1 87 tune
14.6 91 tune
If you use the search function you will find several more.

330' time was 5.919 ... no idea about the mph at 330' mark. My best 60' is 2.11 leaving the tree in 2WD with consistent 2.1's. 4WD did not net me any better 60' times and it killed my trap times and mph. It doesn't switch from 4WD back to 2WD under load, even though the display indicates it does.

Goin to kill me waiting til fall to run the 1/4, but theheat is here now. Maybe somebody will figure out how to improve the 60fts with the 5.0 by then. Without a big converter any way.

I gave up until next year .... possibly December. It gets hot here early and I haven't had the opportunity to race mine when it's cool weather. I look forward to it, though. The truck will even be broken in a lot better then.
For the 5.0 trucks, you really need a torque arm to plant the tires in 2WD. A torque arm will also hold the rear axle in place. With the pinion angle sat to about a -1 or -2, you'll get a better launch. There's a calculation you can use to see what the 'right' pinion angle would be for your truck. Trouble is ... finding someone who makes a torque arm for our trucks. Another forum member has Lakewood traction bars, which seem to be working well for them.

Traction isnt my problem, lack of low end power is. 93perf tune, no tail gate or spare, and my truck still doesnt spin. If 2.11 is your best then 2.3 isnt so bad given the weight difference. 2.11 is a slow 60ft for a 14.0 et. Guess theres no question which end of the track the 5.0 shines at!
