The smell on mine is coming from inside the exhaust stream. I literally thought I had an electrical fire starting but it's something inside the exhaust stream that's burning up or away. Hopefully others are right that this does go away over time.

I just started to smell something and my 02 has over 100K on it. Cat's don't make a plastic smell do they? I always thought it was a sulfur smell, like rotten eggs.
