my other choice was an edge but i dont like the idea of killing my trany at this moment

The 2 most regarded custom tuners of our trucks are Troyer Performance (my recommendation) or VMP. Troyer specializes in custom tuning F150's while VMP specializes in custom tuning Mustangs, but they also do custom tuning for the F150's. I have never run VMP tunes, but those who have like them. I have the Xcal II and Troyer tunes for my truck and am very satisfied with the results.
so from the sounds of it you fill out a couple sheets explaining what you want out of the truck and they design a tune for you is that how it works also what does troyer charge for one of these. thanks
FYI-SCT's original name was Superchips Custom Tuning, one of the founders of SCT was also one of the founders of the original superchips, he left the company and paid a hefty chunk of cash to the remaining superchips guys who banked and sold the name off to MSD.
thanx, that helped alot. time to save up for the xcal. my hypertech was the one programmer i had heard of when i bought it.then came along the superchips. i never new that the xcal and sct existed back then.
The one drawback to Troyer vs VMP is you can usually get your VMP tunes in about a week whereas Troyer's tunes take about 10 weeks. If you think about it though if you've never had your truck tuned what's another 10 weeks to wait? Or would you rather have the almost instant gratification? That's what you really have to decide.

If you order from Troyer Performance you are emailed the sheets, if I remember correctly it's about 4 pages worth of information on your truck you provide. Pretty extensive background required to get the tune programmed to your specific truck. VMP on the other hand you simply fill out the form on their website consisting of about 7 truck specifi questions. IMO that is a huge difference between Troyer and VMP information requests and is what makes Troyer the tuner of choice for our F150's.

I mean it is detailed, but it only took me about 15-20mins to fill it out mostly b/c alot of the maintenance questions I simply filled in with "n/a" cuz there hasn't been much maintenance work done yet cuz only got like 2600miles on her (got my oil changed and tires rotated/balanced 2 weeks ago...yeah, I know it's early but most of those miles have been from long distance, highway 6+hr trips back and forth from Ohio to Maryland so I just wanted to make sure my baby was good and that there weren't any initial concerns...y'all feel me?
Anyways, I spoke w/Crystal who placed my order and we talked for about 45 mins and she was very thorough. I should have my XCAL on Monday (w/only the 2 stock tunes) but plan on putting it in my dresser drawer & waiting the 8weeks to get my 3 custom tunes. I mean like WX said above, if you went this long w/out a tuner, then what is another 60 days?
But I sure by All Mighty Heaven can't wait for that email w/them custom tunes to arrive in my inbox!!
LOL, why is that John? B/C that is where Troyer is located out of (I also see that is where you are at too)? I'm laughin cuz 4 days ago I actually "Mapquested" out how long it would take to get there from Ohio (and then subtract 45mins or so due to my "driving style". Oh, it's gonna be a bad thing when I get this tuner!)
Edit:
Oh, I just read some of your previous posts to me and others in some other threads and see you have been dyno @ Troyers. Yeah, I should come down there. Still recovering from some surgeries so hopefully might be able to do a trip like that in the spring. Only $100 for dyno testing?! Wow, he really could be charging more, but hey, I guess that when you love what you do, that you don't feel the need to screw any & every unsuspecting Joe that comes along. That is a rare quality found in business nowadays.
