Default Wires under bed?

I am new to the forum and recently bought a 2013 Ford F-150 XLT. I wanted to put a backup camera in and when I looked under the truck I found clipped wires. Can anyone help me?

Certainly not stock. I would venture to say it went to offroad lights or auxillary for a trailer of some sort. Are there any holes drilled or bolts disturbed that could have held a ground?

I think that the bottom pic is a ground wire.

I'm thinking for the high mount stop light for a cap myself, but also curious why you would tap in at that spot in the harness, if I'm seeing it correctly. There's connections under the hood just for that.
OP, unwind the rats nest, get your volt/ohm meter, or even just a test light out, and have someone push the brake pedal to see if you get power.
Also, are there any indication of an aftermarket switch once installed in the dash? Might have been used for aux backup lights.

At any rate, get rid of that "scotchlock" tap piece of garbage, and do a proper splice with at least a heatshrink butt connector. I think I'd also be looking in that harness to see if there's another half*****ed splice in there. Take a look and let us know, there are ways to repair those splices if need be.

I don't see anywhere on the dash that might have held aftermarket aux switches. I will try to follow the wires back and see what they are connected to. Thank you for the insite

Ya, please let us know, leaving wiring lay around like that is never a good thing. Not necessarily horrible, but not good.

I would say it was for a cap as some stated or since you just bought it used, It could of been a finance gps device install for the last owner
