I'd like to bump this, I know some of you guys have updated/upgraded your mirrors on your XL/STX trucks. Im interested in what oem mirrors I can put onto my 18 STX 101a package truck. As of now, I just have power glass, not really interested in the big tow mirrors but would like to know if I can add a mirror with the heat/blinker/puddle light options. Thanks fellas.

Another late 2018 XL (STX) 101a truck looking for tow mirrors. I don't see any of the aftermarket ones with the temp sensor.

If the vehicle was built after 2/26/18, there will be a ambient air temp sensor in the passenger side mirror. You must make sure the mirrors you buy have this sensor or the truck will throw a P0073 code/check engine light/outside temp won't work. The heated function is only plug and play if your truck is factory equipped with the rear window defroster. Hit me up if you have any further questions... I just went through this on my STX.

Hi Franke, my 2018 XL STX 101A was built 11/17. I'm guessing that I don't have to worry about the ambient sensor in the mirror, and it is likely located in the grill, right? That being the case, I do have the factory equipped rear defroster, would the tow mirrors you got w/ heat be plug and play in my truck? Can you point me to the ones you got? Are yours 8 or 22 pin?

I appreciate any info you can pass my way.

The mirrors without the Ambient Air Temp sensor are what you would need since the vehicle was manufactured prior to 2/26/18. The mirrors I purchased were not the tow mirrors. They were the regular power adjustable mirros with amber turn signal and heat. Mine were 8 pin. The link is here.

This place has a plethora of mirrors available.

So you installed the mirrors and all the functions worked without having to run additional wires etc? Plug and play?

I have a question, can the ambient air temp. sensor be taken from the mirror and mounted back in the grill area like the trucks built prior to March of 2018? Has anyone done this? Or maybe has someone altered the after market mirror to make the temp sensor work.

what I did, was removed the aat sensor from the stock mirror, cut the wires and shoved them into the connector, it now sits inside the mirror housing. Everything works, it’s not as accurate as it was, however I live in south Florida, I already know it’s hot out without looking at the temp.

Default Stx tow mirror wiring

There’s no pin in slot 2 and 6 but they have wires in the connector. I have read somewhere pin 12 is for parking lights and pin 14 is for the puddle lights

Can I swap the wires from 2 and 6 and put them in pin 12 and 14 to make the parking lights and puddle lights to work?
