What is the best programmer on the market? I mainly want to increase my gas mileage because currently I am getting on average 11.5mpg.

Primary benefit to a programmer is power and secondary benefit is mpg gains. You will affect your gas mileage more by how you drive then just loading a tuner. That being said, long as not constantly hard in the gas, most folks will see anywhere from 1-2 mpg gains with a good tune.

Is there any downside to getting a tune or risk to the long term durability of the engine?

Yes my mpg sucks as well I want a CAI and tuner combo. What is the best combo for performance MPG and towing. Also Where do these tuners go I know the edge goes in a dashpot, and the bully dog on the windshield. What about the rest?
Thanks

I have the Edge CTS (on dash pod) with Custom 87 Performance, Custom 87 Tow, and Custom 91 Performance from Power Hungry Performance along with an Airaid model 401-231 CAI.....

Needless to say I love the power and MPGs!

Thanks what did that run you? If you don't mind me asking. If I only had money for one which one would be best for performance and gas mileage. I have FlowMaster 40 duel exhaust. (I do not know if this matters)

The Edge with custom tunes ran me around $650 + the CAI at around $230.... I have a Flowmaster 40 SIDO + X Pipe with 4" tips dumped behind my rear axle... every performance mod matters because custom tunes are built specifically for your vehicle, if you plan on doing anything on the engine/performance-wise make sure you do it before custom tunes so that you don't have to buy new ones!
