Graduation! Now I need advice

if it were me i would email garmin, magellan, or whoever else(only two that come to mind) and ask them your question. I'm sure they could give you a pretty good recommendation. From a quick search i see that some models offer what you are looking for but I'm not sure if its exactly what you are looking for.

All i read was OP.
But I use my HTC HD7 Windows 7 Phone and it's amazingly fast and reliant. Was like 280$ after my upgrade at tmobile.. Other than that I'm not sure really haha.

I use a Delorme PN-40 for backpacking. It has all of the features that the OP mentioned (topo, coordinates, etc.) and fives the option of navigating through hiking or driving. It's an awesome rugged little thing. I know there are accessories that you can get to mount it in vehicles and such, but I've never used them before...the GPS unit itself is great.

I dont know much about GPS service in the states but up here in Canada they sell Garmin offroad GPS systems (designed specifically for trails etc)....I've only seen hand held ones so not sure about being able to mount it inside your truck. They can store hundreds of coordinates for all those holes you're digging And they are accurate to within 3 feet. Paid $140 canadian for it plus tax at canadian tire....its like a pep boys i guess? If I find a link to it I'll post later.

it's pretty sweet, it tracks where i'm going and even lets me enter coordinates. My manager who let me test his out even gave me the software with topographical maps and waypoint and trail tracking editing software. Gotta say that i'm just about set. its already saved one trail and we'll see how it does further down the road

I got the middle of the 2, eTrex Legend H, and I love it. Just be careful looking up coordinates on googlemaps, it put me a mile off course when trying to find a hunting spot at 3am... There's so much stuff you can do with it though, a good investment.

lucky, my parents told me i had to put all my graduation money in savings for college. its best i guess though. i got one of those 100 dollar garmins from walmart. pretty sure you can enter coordinates, and i know they have a lot of downloadable maps that get pretty detailed. i bet one of those gps's designed specifically for off road would be your best bet though, if in the price range.
