Default Fraser Powertrain Direct Engine review

After someone recommending this company to me I thought I go ahead and buy a heavy-duty engine from them since they had a warranty that was better then most.

I like to state that experience with this company has been a nightmare. Not only do they not want to stand by their warranty, but they sold me a defective motor from the get-go. After calling their warranty department and making a claim it took them 3 months to finally decide to give me a replacement engine after contacting the BBB.

Not only did I follow the warranty guide to every detail, in reference to "break-in" cycle, I even changed the oil more then what was expected.

They expect you to open up and perform all these test (compression test, open the engine to check for broken parts) yet they only pay what they want to pay and not what the mechanic charges leaving me, the consumer, with having to pay the remainder amount.

Their warranty is horrible, even if they offer 3 year/300,000 they literally try and play it off as if the mechanic's fault that installed it. This engine the moment it started and notice the noise, I called right away, and all they want to do is a series of "test" to make sure it was their fault.

After making a complaint with BBB and being more aggressive by keeping a paper trail via emails instead of phone did they finally decide to give me a replacement engine.

I think it is very absurd to go through the trouble to buy a product over $3500 and get a defective unit on arrival. I write this review in hopes that others do not make the mistake and buy a Fraser / Powertrain direct engine.

If anyone has questions or cares for me to elaborate more in depth let me know. I do NOT want someone else getting put in a situation like mine because it was a nightmare.

Is this the only review on this company?

Josh,

Is this Fraser Engine & Transmission Rebuilders located in Fraser, MI ?

I need a new engine for my Mountaineer, and was going to have this company do the work.

I merely took the time to write my review in hopes that another hard working person who is on a budget doesnt make the same mistake I did.

Not only was it a financial burden for me, it was long and costly battle to deal with and nothing but headaches.

I really hate for someone else to have to go through with what I did.

Yes I received a defective engine, however I am sure that this will not happen all time with each order. With that said, if you do order from this company and so happen to receive a defective engine, do not expect an easy process to get it fixed.

If you notice they do not have the warranty information on website, I did not do this, but ask for warranty info before purchase. I read mine and there is stipulations on warranty and it is very easy to void warranty if you do not follow their protocols.

The replacement motor that was first sent was defective. I purchased the heavy duty version of the 5.4 engine that they offer.

After a long lengthy battle and having to open up the defective engine, I was finally sent out a new engine.

The new engine seems to work, but I am having an issue with it at lower rpms 1,800 - 2,000 rpms where I get some hesitation. No engine light comes on and I can not figure out what is causing that issue, is it the engine? Probably not, but I am not a mechanic.

I am content with the way it runs, even though I am trying to figure out what causes that issue. This is my daily driver and I do put mileage on the truck , however I stay on it with oil change, cleaning mass air flow sensor, and air filter, along with regular mainteance.

Thumbs down Frazer ford 5.4 rebuilt engine, poor workmanship and customer service

I am a owner of a repair shop, my customer supplied a 2004 ford 5.4 engine. The engine cam fast enough but they sent a partial install kit. Then they promised a over night shipment and a week later I am still waiting. But more importantly than that was the fact that the timing cover was mis aligned and was protruding up about .040 above both head surfaces and to install this the valve cover gaskets would have a gap in the front and for sure leak oil. Also the main bearing caps have locking studs , four on each side of the block. They installed 7 new studs and one old used one that was dripping oil out of the side of the block. also the timing cover and oil pan gasket were coated on both sides with heavy silicone. The gaskets are not designed to be sealed with silicone, they are rubber and steel gasket and should be installed dry except for the corners of the head where a small amount of silicone is to be used. And last of all is that all of the install parts that we have been waiting on were suppose to already be installed onto the engine and thus be ready to install. I was very unhappy with the whole process and the customer sent the engine back and purchased a napa rebuilt. It had two years less on the warranty but I have installed many napa engines and have yet to have a problem that they did not take care of with one phone call. If the customer service at frazer engine was better we may have been able to work around some of the issues. But I can only imagine how difficult it would have been to warranty the engine after I had installed it. I feel myself and the customer avoided a nightmare later down the road

Thumbs down Frasier Powertrain Direct Engine

I also had a similar experience. It was for my Dodge Ram 1500. I purchased a 5.7 Hemi through them. After much delay I finally received the engine. After it was installed I had multiple codes and misfires with it. Mechanics eventually returned the motor and was told that I would receive a new one as soon as the received mine. That was not the case, I had to wait while they tore down the engine to try and figure out what was wrong with it. After several weeks they finally sent out my new engine. Never did find out what was wrong with the first. But now I am on my second engine the mechanics already had to replace the Valve gasket on it because it was leaking. All in all terrible experience with them and from what I have seen the quality is not at all what they claim. Would not recommend this company. Spend a little more else where and get a engine you can trust.

I wish I would have seen this before I purchased one. Mine expired after only three months. I'm going through all the same things you described.
