Default "Clacking" sound when switching to 4L

I was testing out my 4wd settings on a dirt road yesterday,
and every time I switch to 4L the trans or transfer case makes
a "clacking" sound. The truck engaged into 4wd and functions
fine. Is this sound normal? Or should I have Ford service check it out?
Thanks

No Raptors, but all three F-series in my sig. have electric shift T-cases. They all usually make some sort of clack/clunk/thump when going into 4L. If you slow down to under 35 it's not so bad. Normal.

Ok, so it's normal? I was stopped and in N. FYI- never had an electric shift 4wd.
Thanks!

Frankly I always liked the manual shift better, but I don't think that's even been an option for several years now.
Quick story... Back in high school (senior year) I had a lifted '79 F150 4x4 with a 400 and a C6 auto. There was this girl I knew but not really interested in. One night at a local hang-out she comes up and asks to drive my truck, which was quite tall. She was pretty short. Well.... it's a girl, can't say no, although I REALLY didn't want her driving it. She opens the door and is nearly eye level with the T-case lever."Oh, I didn't know this was a stick-shift, I can't drive a stick". I didn't say a word, problem solved! When she walked away, my buddies and I just about pooped ourselves laughing.

My past trucks all had electric shift and made noise's. My raptor has been very quite compared to the last trucks. The shifting has been very smooth.
