2018 Lariat to 2018 Raptor? Talk me in or out of it
#22
If you want a Raptor, get a Raptor... a lifted and whippled lariat will NOT fill that void.... I know because thats what I did. Leased a 2017 lariat due to raptor sticker shock... went back after the lease terms of 24 months and bought the Raptor. Spent every single day driving the loaded lariat wondering how much better the experience would be in the Raptor. It was a long 24 months... The Raptor is just a way better experience on and off road. Big factor to me also was the Raptors Resale value, they hardly depreciate! in 2 years your 55k lariat will be worth 30k, your 65k raptor will be worth 55k

Interesting. I would say, if you are going to do Raptor style stuff, get it ! If your not, but still want it...GET IT! I have a 17 GT350...I truly do not track it out, I been to the drag strip once in it...but man do I enjoy driving it. As others have said, life is short do you.
As for my truck, my lifted Lariat is fitting the bill just nice. Came out of 12FX4, so this 16 with all the bells and whistles is doing it for me. Tossed on a modded FORD grill, and tuned the 5.0. Well did a few other mods, but I'm loving it so far.

The OP has already said he will take a $21k hit on his Lariat. Now add $30k that it will cost to buy the Raptor.
Vehicles are depreciating assets and have no "return", with very few exceptions. I buy a vehicle that suits my needs, and drive it until it starts nickel and diming me. I owned a 2002 Avalanche for 14 years prior to my Lariat. The fact is I kept at least $20k in my pocket vs buying a Raptor. How much return will I get over 14 years with that money invested at even just 4%? Yep, I'm way off base.

I sold a 2015 KR with intent to find a new raptor. Yes, it’s worth it. Even if I hadn’t negotiated a great deal, it still would have been worth it. I only tow my single car race trailer and Ski Nautique, so that wasn’t a concern. Much more fun to drive on or off the pavement than my last truck.
