Default Engine swap mess! Triton help

Hello. I'm new here and could use some help. My dad has a 2000 Ford F-150 4.6 v8 and the engine has completely seized. He needs another engine for it but he is wondering which year models of the F-150 are compatible so he can find a compatible engine at a local junk yard. Can anyone give me some advice to pass along? I'd appreciate any help you can offer to a newb here.

I believe 00-03 but will need the engine code from the 8th digit of the vin number to decern whether its a Romeo or Windsor block.

If i recall correctly.......

He said it's a W and he's pretty sure it's a Romeo block. I appreciate your reply!

Use car-part.com.....best site in the world for salvage yard parts.....uses the same software salvage yards use for their inventory pricing and interchange.

I wanted to say THANKS to you guys for helping out a newbie here and not being rude for my lack of knowledge. That website worked great and we've got a 4.6 Triton on the way and found a local guy to swap it out. We're hoping Dad will be back on the road in about a week. Thanks again!
