Default Engine Knocking

I have a 1998 F 150 4.6 8 cylinder.... Problem is that when i use 87 octane it pings like crazy when I accelerate. I put in 92 octane virtually all the pinging goes away. Any suggestions on how to address this? Or do I simply get used to paying for 92 octane?

Steve

How many miles has it been since you have changed your plugs?

Probably internal carbon build up causing the problem.

Do you use the same gas everytime? Run some sea foam threw it and it should help....

No just fill up your tank and put a bottle in....that's it for now. It will clean out carbon deposits and trash/dirt/water from your injectors/fuel system. Report back after the tank of gas is gone....
