Default bbk throttle body?

I have an 05 f150 xlt with the 3v 5.4L. i saw the bbk 80 mm throttle body on summit. and was wondering if anybody has any experience with throttle bodies or the bbk company. i bought some bbk shorty headers for my 82 f150's 302 and was really dissapointed with the quality. I spent about 2 hrs grinding and getting the ports to match up.

Hope someone chimes in. I'm interested in the bbk CARB exempt TB for my 4.6.

I have the 80mm from bbk. Quality is there. Smooth as silk and built exactly like the motorcraft part. These tb's started out a few years ago with metal gears which over time would start binding. They are now made with nylon gears just as the stock piece is.

thanks. I'm wondering if i just got a header that slipped quality contol or had been badly repaired or something. I bought it used from a buddy so I couldn't exactly call bbk about it.
I've heard throttle bodies aren't worth much powerwise because theyre just not much bigger/better flowing than stock. Would I see worthwhile benefits if i couple that with high flow intake and exhaust?

In reality you may see about 5-7hp out of it. Coupled with a custom tune, headers, and exhaust could give you some nice gains. Imo I would use the $300 to do e-fans which will pick up about 15hp. That's enough to feel it with the butt dyno. Troyer performance offers a couple different packages which can get you up to 268rwhp. That's a nice increase from 200-205rwhp from the factory. The nice thing about it is Mike has done the dyno testing on the parts and can tell you what parts are going to make what power so you don't waste any money.
