Default 5.4L Re-machine

I'm a second year engine machinist student and I'm going to be ripping the engine out of my '03 Scab and re-machining it. I had some head warpage and piston hitting the valve problems over the summer so I'm going to tear her apart and give her some new life.

Right now I'm thinking about CNC boring and diamond honing it 30 over and putting in new pistons. Replacing all the main and rod bolts with ARP bolts and maybe the head studs too. Also thinking about maybe zero decking it and putting in Comp Tri-Power X-Treme cams and timing set. Also kicking around the idea of MSD box and/or CoP's if the budget holds out.

Has anybody had any machine work done and run into problems with the computer "catching back up"? Open to suggestions. I know I'm going to have to get a programmer for the cams but not sure about anything else.

you will have to retune for the added displacement. stock coil packs are fine- so save your money there. as for the cams- a handheld will not cut it. a custom tune will have to be used in order to have your truck run right with cams as there are too many factors that cams change for someone to not tune your truck in front of them-trust me
