Default 06 engine problems, im lost!

5.4 triton, lariat model truck. when i mash the gas it feels like the engine is bogging down while trying to keep up then it kicks back in. only does it for a few seconds until gas is let off. almost like a misfire and the engine is defueling. any suggestions to fix? ive changed both plugs that showed up on the code its throwning and checked coil packs and other plugs and all are good. help!

had similar problem with my 05 lariat 5.4l and had imrc valves and motor changed with a pvc hose as well and all is fine now. cost was $800.00 bucks at the dealer but keep in mind my dtc reading was for the imrc staying closed in bank 1a meaning cylinder 1 side. the code was p2006. check dtc's again before attempting anything, thats your best bet. hope this helps.

A bad cat affecting only one cylinder? I personally find it hard to believe a cat can affect any cylinders. This will open the door for me to get hammered.

truckie86, try this cause you have nothing to lose.
1. Turn key to NO position but don't start, wait for the chimes to stop, then press the gas pedal slowly to the floor and then let it up as fast as you can.
2.Turn key to the OFF position.
3.Do 1. and 2. a total of three times.
4. Start vehicle and see if you need to do anything else to fix.

Son had a similar problem with his 06 F150 5.4.
Dealer claims it's a bad cat converter. Loss of power on hills and unable to tow anything. Cab smells of exhaust and uses fuel like a 1/4 miler. Will let you know if the cat is the fix. byw: his cat is under a 80,000 miler warranty and his still has 2,000 left..

Update:
Cat replacement fixed the issues. He just made a trip to FLA without any issues..

What's the "NO" position?? Just for *****s and giggles I'm going to try this, out of curiosity what's the reasoning behind this?

*edit* just went out and tried this.. we'll see what happens when I'm going down the freeway tomorrow..
