Default shackels

Ok so here is my question. Instead of buyin drop shackles y can't I just take the stock ones and redrill hanger holes I them. Make a template to make sure they r all exact and do it that way. Little more work but cheaper

You'd be lifting it. Drop shackles are longer.

Buy some high grade steel, and drill em? Use the oem bolts and all. Or just move the hanger back some and redrill that.

As crazy as it seems, you could move the stock hanger up like and 1" or an 1.5" and re-drill the holes and bolt it back on.

I understand trying to save a few bucks, but c'mon bro. 2" drop shackles are only like $40.00 at AutoZone. You can even go to Johnny Lightning's website and order 2", 3" or 4" drop shackles for a 97-03 model F150. Safety first dude, leave all that jerry rigging stuff alone. Too many companies making quality products to lift and lower these days to be rigging stuff up.

I only paid $120.00 for hangers and shackles from DJM.

darth is right. You could go and do it urself.. But what if the shackles you build are too long? They'd start hitting the bottom of ur bed every time you hit a bump. I paid 70 bucks for my shackles, and they fit perfect. My toolmanship would run me 100 bucks before I got it right. And it would still be halfassed.

Maybe with some cutting here and there. I imagine a slight trim job would be in order. The back should be fine as long as they're inside the fender not flush. If not, some dips and bumps in the road may cause a slight rub.
