Harnesses are prewired for Tach function so should be "plug & play"!

I have an 87'. I wasn't asking, I was saying it does. Swapping my non-tach cluster for one w/ a Tach was the first Mod I did when I got the truck.

All the harnesses are set up for with or without Tachs. That way Ford only had to make one version harness. If you inspect a harnesses you will find empty connectors. Those go to options you just don't happen to have.

in the case of the Tach, the harness cluster connection already has the hot for the tach, but if you don't have a tach cluster, it just doesn't connect to anything.

I believe your Cluster is good for only up to 91', is because the speedometer changes from mechanical to electronic in 92'.
