Default yet another oil thread

i know this question has been asked plenty and im beating a dead horse, but im stuck on what to do. and ive tried the search button but its kicking my ***. should i stick with regular oil, synthetic blend, or go to a fully synthetic oil?(im thinking mobil 1)

the reason why im asking is because i have a 2000 f150 5.4 with 168,000 on it. there are no oil leaks, there is not a drop of oil anywhere on the motor, and it doesnt burn oil. what im worried about i guess is would this cause leaks or anything of the sort?

i travel 500 miles a weekend round trip to and from college and i want to do everything i can to help my motor last longer and run more effieciently and cleanly.

If your engine isn't burning oil then you lucked out and have a good one. I know alot of Triton engine owners that can't say that. Engine seals today are much better than they were and can easily handle the switch to synthetic. What to switch to depends on how much you want to spend and which is more cost effective. I've been running Syntec since my first oil change in both vehicles and haven't had any problems. I'm sure you won't either.

I would suggests mobil syntec, its a synthetic blend(regular/ synthetic mix) that I used on my 1994 300 straight 6 and seemed to work great, that is if you want regular/ synthetic mix. I honestly dont know the reason why some engines have problems with a switch from regular to synthetic, even though I have heard plenty of theories. Oh and I had about 130K on it when I switched.

I use mobil 1 in my mustang and my wife's cx-9. Haven't decided what i'm putting in the truck yet. Probably going to stick to mobil 1 although royal purple supposedly will go a whole lot further between changes.

I suppose good old dino juice would be ok too provided you change every 3k

This is an informative site... Just haven't read through it all
