Default Wiper fluid problems?

Hi, I'm new here, and I've got a '98 triton V8 F-150 5.4L. But lately my wiper fluid hasn't been squirting. Sometimes if I hold the button down for a minute or so it'll start squirting, but who has time for that? The lines not leaking, or torn, the fuze isn't blown, it's full of fluid, and clean. I sprayed compressed air through the lines, so that's not the problem. My friend says it's cause my battery's no good anymore (it's a pretty old battery, but still working fine) do you think that would fix it? Does anyone here have any ideas for fixing it? It's not a very pressing issue, I'm not gonna die cause of a dirty windshield, it just bugs me. Thanks forum!

I had the same problem when I bought my truck last year. Replaced the washer fluid pump that is located on the bottom/side of reservoir and that fixed the problem. No more intermittently working. Works like new! Hope this helps

I would either start by testing the pump, make sure it's working, and squirting fluid properly. And not burnt out, or bad terminals or anything like that. Then I would check the switch. Make sure it's a good connection at the multi switch and you don't have the bad connections due to a pivoting steering wheel problem. I highly doubt it's a bad battery. If you truck cranks over no problem, a small pump won't hurt your battery. Tell your friend to try again.

Thanks! I'll try both of those tomorrow, and get back to you then

The washer fluid pump has a check valve to keep the lines from draining back. Replace the pump.

There is also a rubber screen/grommet that the pump snaps into. That screen can become clogs. I would check that out too!

Replaces the pump, and it works beautifully. You're awesome!
