Default While replacing rotors (RWD) I noticed something is missing...

So the rotors and bearings getting changed on the front of my RWD 1998 F150

I noticed that the "shield" behind the rotor is rusted out/almost gone.

Where do I find this part when looking for a replacement? Either Rock Auto or Napa part numbers would be helpful .. I've been looking at websites all day and I can't find it.

For my first stop would probably be a junkyard
You can probably just find them laying on the ground and pick them up where somebody took them off to do other dissassembly. Sometimes they'll pick everything up off the ground and throw them in the interior

Every one I look at is for 4WD, not RWD F150s for that model year range (1997-2003)

If you have a specific link that looks like I have, please share as my google-fu is weak

Well... ebay has a set for $90

I might see if I can find something from a local you-pull-parts

I'd see if the bolts come out before ordering new splash shields

Rock Auto has them listed for my truck(2002 4x4) under “Brake and Wheel Hub - Brake Backing Plate and Dust Shield”.
https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...choice=0-0-1-1

As far as I can tell, there’s no difference in the actual shield on 4wd vs 2wd, or 4 wheel ABS vs 2 wheel ABS.

I agree with manicmechanic, make sure the bolts come off before you go ordering parts. If it’s that rusty, removing the original part may prove futile.

Yeah, 4WD are readily available but trying to track down the fronts for just a RWD F150 is proving far less successful.

Ahh I see. Missed that it was the front in your original post, my bad.

I know you said 2WD, but I replaced my front shields on my 4x4 with this brand back in August...

Perfect fitment, if you find they are the same or similar enough
