Default while im working on the truck....

my transmission on my 03 screw wont stay in overdrive and every now and then slips when taking off, so I have a spare 4r70w that im refreshing to swap into it when it completely dies on me.
not sure what else is wrong with the truck. runs fine, but it seems not quite right... best I have gotten on a tank of gas is 13.5 mpg based off of the miles driven/gas it takes to fill it up. but this thing is a dog! it wont even chirp the tires its the 4.6.

any ideas for me to do to gain some power or increase the fuel mileage?

You have a car engine in a truck, -with a different intake.

You MPG's are normal, - good for this time of year. You could just go thru it and update sensors, plugs, injectors and coils. That'll make a big difference if it's a slug....like night and day, - it may actually feel light and quick.

For the trans, flush it out and fill w/good stuff like Amsoil. I've personally seen that fluid perform miracles. Also clean out the accumulator and instal a shift kit. My truck wouldn't move on it's own @ 185,000 miles. Maintenanced the trans and used better springs, fluid and brought it back to life. Has 319,000 miles on it now and the trans doesn't skip a beat.

13.5 is normal, good compared to what we get in the winter months. Do what jbrew said if you want to do something.

Getting over drive fixed could help if you drive highway a lot, keep rpms lower.
