Default Wheel spacers????

So I ran into my local oriellys to pick up something for my dad and got to looking around and saw some wheel spacers.. They looked to be an inch... They are the ones you slide over your studs then slap on the tire and wheel.. What are the pros and cons of these?? There not a "must have" but if there cheap and will work why not?? Just throw in your two cents! Thanks!

If theyre not hub centric dont run them. Anything less then 1.5" and you have to cut down your factory lugs. Despite what many people say i ran 2" hub centric spacers for a year or so. Manh road trips, and plenty of wheeling with out any issue. I bought mine off of ebay from seller cjbargains.

Those from oriellys are junk, might as well just space the wheels with 5¢ washers. A good, safe set of wheel spacers will run you $200-400. They're milled metal and have wheel studs in them, not this, spacing out on the stock ones BS. For something like that where your life and other people's lives are riding on it, you don't wanna cheap out.

I figured they wouldn't be the safest... Looks like I'm not getting spacers then! Lol

You should not use anymore than 1/4'' spacers (the kind that just slide on) with the stock studs. The next step up would be 1'' to 1.5'' spacers with new studs pressed in. Always get hub centric. If your using stock rims you need them to have the wheel centric part also. Since thats the only way the wheel is centered. Most after market rims have a conical lug nut seat which will center the rims and there is not a need to have wheel centric adapter/spacer. But they are always good to have anyway. But not as easy to find.

I will also note that it is always best to get rims with the correct backspacing for the look you want than to get spacers. the less the backspacing the more they will stick out.

I've heard more than one story of guys going down the highway and their wheel coming off. They're 100% unsafe if my opinion unless you get the right ones.

I had 2" hub centric, wheel centric spacers on my 2001 and I just put a new set on 2010 I like them but they cost $200 a set and are made of cnc'd aluminum with grade 10 lugs... The only thing that is going to come from the slide on spacers is lug wear and other problems

If you use locktite when installing the spacers they are perfectly safe. They'll cause the same amount of stress on front end components as wheels with huge negative offsets, which is what makes them stick out
