Question Wheel backspacing??

I am looking at new rims for my 02 4.6L 4x4 f150. The tires I have on it now are 225/75 R16 and the other size is 16x8. I think the bolt pattern in 5x135.

Is there anything special that I have to watch out for when buying new rims like "backspacing"??

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

The rims I really want are the Rockstar XD775 Black rims. Would a 18x9 with 5" backspacing fit my truck? Here is the link to the ones I want to get http://store.eliteswheels.com/Items/XD77589043300

They will fit, they just won't stick out. That's the 1 thing I never liked about Rockstars was the fact they don't stick out. Only trucks I've seen where they stick out some are Chevys.

Bu stick out, you mean past the fenders? I really dont want the tires to stick out anyways.

I have the 4.6L f150 and it has the 16" wheels. My MPG right now is about 11.2. How much of a drop would I see if I got 18" tires and rims?

Check out my thread in the /how to/tires wheels suspension... titled wheels and tires 101...

Factory wheels are usually 4.5" backspacing and the width is on your door sticker... so you can figure what you want from there...

just be careful with that 5" backspacing if you plan on ever lifting the truck. many companies say with a suspension lift you cant even run stock backspacing. And with the 4.6 that truck is gonnaa worrrrrrrk real hard with those big rims. but it all depends on what tire size. im running 32's almost 33's and they soak up the power let me tell you

RCX was wrong on that one, my stock wheels fit fine with my lift as they had 4.5" bs, but they say "will not work with factory wheels" but yes I doubt it would work with 5" bs...

And actually now that I think about it again Ckales were -44 on a 12" wide wheel would be about 4.25" bs, sorry...

It was more bs than that. But he also had Rockstars custom drilled for his truck. So he probably took a rim designed for a Chevy being they have or seem to have a wider stance when running Rockstars and got blanks and custom drilled. Either or.. 12 wide is crazy unless your running like 14.5+ wide.
