I couldn't see it in the first picture. The cable hooks to the ebrake lever. I'm not sure what spring you are talking about. Hook the cable into that lever and see what you have. I don't think you are missing any parts, just need them attached to their respective mates.

The end of the cable is smaller than the lever hole. It will slip out. This is what you get into when you buy an old vehicle that has been rigged. Lol

Now I understand what you are describing. You can just get another lever from Ford or a wrecking yard.

Here is a picture of the left side, I can't find the right side picture, that you are showing in your photo. It seems that you could have a broken ear that holds the cable end, or are mounting it thru the hole and not locking it into the mount. Maybe this will help you a little. Otherwise, it's bone yard time. Good luck.
