Default What ton jack???

Hey everyone! I have a 2000 ext cab flareside 5.4L v8. I got the truck used and never had a jack. I've seen several jacks from $10-$200! But what ton should I get? I saw a 6ton craftsman bottle jack for $19.99 at sears! Thanx for the input and advice!!!

I hate using a bottle jack. A decent floor service jack will last you a loooonnng time and is much easier to use. 3ton is plenty unless you're jacking up some heavy equipment.

Thanks for the reply! I thought about a floor jack as well but I'm limited on space because of the subs I have under the rear seat! And I reallly don't want to leave it in the bed of the truck! I have just enough room for bottle jack and I saw a 4way folding lug nut wrench!

I have the 6 ton bottle jack. Use it for road side stuff but plan to use it for my differential gear change

The truck isn't that heavy, so the tonnage isn't going to be an issue. The whole truck weighs 2 tons, and you aren't going to be picking up the whole truck with a bottle jack anyway. Everyone wants a floor jack, but it rolls around the bed or cab and is annoying. I'd just find a nice bottle jack that fits under the seat. Might want to just head down to the junkyard and see if you can find an original jack kit that screws in under the seat.

anything over 2 tons and around a 9 to 11 inch height compressed will work

since your truck is pretty much stock and regular floor jack will work. but remember if you go lifted you will have to get one that can lift higher.

Sorry, misunderstood. I didn't realize you were wanting a jack to keep in your truck. Someone suggested a junkyard OEM. I'll second that. Never had to use mine, but I'm sure it'd be fine for emergency's.
