Purchased my 2003 XLT in Jan 2009 with 86,000 on her.

No repairs yet aside from normal maintenance

Oil/filter change
Fuel filter and
One (1) O2 sensor

at 100,000 I will replace plugs, plug wires, all hoses etc...

She is a smooth running truck!

I shouldn't do this cause I bought my 97 short bed, reg cab, 4x4 needing all these repairs...

Engine - PO did not do oil changes! (01 PI motor!) Got it running last night, finally!

Needs:
Headliner (would love to hear about that camo one Steinmetz!!)
Headlights
Brake lines (rusty)
fuel lines (rusty)
Windshield
Tires/Rims
Spare tire holder/winch

That is pretty much it for now... Haven't driven it yet after engine install... May need brakes, suspension stuff, or steering parts... Upgrades include power mirrors and windows, instrument cluster with tach (if plug-and-play), manifold-back dual exhaust, LSD (if it doesn't already have it), Waag brush guard and fogs... Motor is fully rebuilt with all new bearings and seals, Mark 8 pistons, ARP head studs, 24lb injectors, and a K&N filter...

1997 short bed, reg cab, 4x4, 243K miles!! Paid $810 for the truck!!

It's not hard at all, take down the existing headliner as in remove all lights, seat belts, and such and such holding it up, carefully manuever it out of the truck. Get some fabric of your choice from a fabric shop, I went to Jo-Ann fabrics, not sure if theres one around you. Go to a local auto parts store pick up 2 cans of headliner spray glue, then drape fabric over headliner peel back halfway and spray coats of about 6inches and smooth fabric down, working your way out with it form both sides. Then you find the holes and cut them out. I'll see about uploading a pic of mine on here.

Default '97 supercab, 4.6

Have 190,000+ on the truck and have replaced (besides regular maintenance of filters, belts, one set of plugs) a water pump, a radiator, a heater core.
Had brake shudder at 179,000, had them totally rebuilt and are perfect.
Run Mobil1 and change oil/filter on a 4-5500 mile interval.
Won't buy a new truck. Just keep this up and save the money for golf.

2002 FX4-- 185,000 miles, of which 115,000 belong to me. So far (knock on wood)--
U Joints

Thats it. I have replaced stock parts for performance, but none that had failed. About to replace the blower motor resistor. Runs as strong as it did when I got it. LOVE it (and love it every month that comes and goes without a payment!)

1997 4.2 5 speed. Got it from a friend for cheap after he replaced the motor and tranny he killed. So I got it at 238,000 miles with 4k on motor and tranny......so here we go.

Inner and outter tie rods on both sides
Idler arm
Piman arm
inner and outer bearings with hubs and brakes on front
Upper control arms and bushings with ball joints
Lower ball joints and control arm bushings
front and rear shocks
rear bushings - all
Alternator
valve cover gaskets
gauge cluster
passenger door lock complete
Air filter - K/N
Fuel filter
PCV valve
Section of brake wiring for 3rd brake light
Wheels and tires (2 bent wheels)
Rear brake relief valve
Tranny and rear diff fluid
Serp belt
Mobile 1 with filter
Sway bar end links
Sway bar bushings
Hood support adjustment
More lights than I can count
Rear tranny mount
Exhaust crossover mount

She runs like a new truck now....well I guess she is a new truck.

Love it now, somethin about an F-150, even if it is a V6 and old
