I would like to hear your opinion on what I should do to a 97 F150 to keep the engine and trans runnin strong.

Thanks,

What engine and tranny? I can tell you right now the 4.2's tend to not like some CAI's and its jus best to get a drop in filter and do a Gotts mod to the airbox inlet. I have a Flowmaster 40 series on my 4.2 and it doesn't sound bad, I would've gone more for the 44 but that can get annoying heading down the highway for extended periods of time. Make sure you change the oil religiously. I usually run 5K miles between oil changes and run all highway.

To keep the truck running strong a tune up is obviously the first thing you should do. Then after that, you can do some mods like intake, tuner, gears, exhaust, etc

I hear good things about E3's but I don't have that premium of a plug in mine. Wire wise 8mm but better would be a 9mm wire. Talking about plugs and wires seems so foreign to me since I'm always helping friends replace diesel injectors.

Motorcraft plugs and motorcraft wires, really no advantage for "performance" wires. After that do the gotts mod, swap out the muffler for a straight through style, then go for a custom programmer.
