You need a 97/98 remote system. Then it will almost be a pleasure to change the oil. You only have to go under for the plug and bucket.

I was going to install one this time, but I couldn't determine which one to buy, and then I told myself "eh, it's just once a year"... which I regretted almost immediately.

Still doesn't save you from the pan drain dumping directly on the cross member, but yes, the remote filter is WAY easier to deal with.

Doesn't touch the crossmember, The 5our doesn't anyway. Always clean and simple. You don't have to worry about that CO.

I must be doing it wrong cuz I find it really easy to change and I don't get an oil bath. I use a big plastic bucket paint from home Depot. It drains out of one spot when you take the filter off so it's easy to catch that. It might spill a tiny amount when you put the new filter on but it drains out the same spot again. For ease of oil changes I'd give it 9 out of 10, just have to remember to turn the wheels the right way to access the oil filter.

Good man, I need one of them. I guess it's just living the lifted life that mine dumps on the crossmember which proceeds to run a 3ft wide curtain of oil across my shop floor. On the pony motors on our company trucks there's a braided steel hose that is attached to the drain bung. Takes about an hour to drain 15 quarts of 15w 40 but there's no mess. Was considering doing that 😅

That's basically how these work, but not so slow. They sell an attachment for snapping on a tube, so every drop goes in the pan. Worth every penny.
