202,200 miles time for a New Engine
I dropped off my 99 F-150 at a local shop to have a new factory 4.2 V6 put in it. My original engine has 202,200 on it. It started missing and lacked power on acceleration. I took it to two shops and then a Ford dealer. The dealer found low compression in it were the difference was more than 30 psi between cylinders. Also because of the low compression it developed a miss. The dealer recommended repairing or replacing the engine. Since rebuilding the 4.2V6 costs more than just putting a new Ford factory long block in it, I'm having a new motor put in. It will be nice to enjoy more long camping trips to the lake and vacations and not have to worry about breaking down miles from home.
The new engine is guaranteed for three years unlimited miles. Sure a new truck would be nice. But I can't afford a $440 a month payment. Instead of shelling out 25-30 grand for a new truck I just took out a much smaller line of credit from my bank to pay for a new engine. Also another reason I opted to not go with a new truck is in 2016 I will be retired from my job. Not a good idea to have a big truck payment and no job these days.
